Meet Richard Jao
Born in San Jose, California in 1985, Richard Jao is a proud product of both the Saturday morning generation and the internet boom. He earned a B.A in film production from Santa Clara University and an M.F.A in animation storyboarding from the Academy of Art University. A lover of animation and comics since childhood, Richard has always kept this passion for the fantastic and fun close to his upbringing and sense of style. Some of his favorite shows growing up included Ninja Turtles, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Ghostbusters, but he's also got a soft spot for anime and tokusatsu shows as well. His favorite types of shows tend to be the ones that can blur the line between kids and young adults, which appears to be the case in the new millennium.
He has attended and staffed conventions such as Fanime and Animation on Display and is currently volunteering at the Disney Museum to further educate families and future generations about the wonders of "simple cartoons". In fact, he believes that a good story is universal to anyone, even if it takes place in a far off land beyond the imagination. Some might consider his tastes to be exceptionally nerdy, but to him it's a way to never forget the wonder he grew up with as a kid.
